About

This blog is all about what its like to study theoretical physics at degree level and beyond that as I progress! I cover a variety of topics from progression through academia to how to study theoretical physics and more general university orientated topics. I sometimes talk about theoretical physics more generally outside of the world of study but I mainly focus on subjects relevant to study in the field rather than topics in the field itself.

Who am I?

First, my academic background. I have a 1st honours class degree from Royal Holloway, University of London in theoretical physics. I am currently studying a masters at Imperial College London, its my intention to go onto a PhD in a subject related to particle theory and/or mathematical physics.

I also love playing electric guitar so there you will hear me talk about music/guitars a fair amount...

Why do I write this blog?

I've often found that there's a lack of detailed information about how to make your way through studying and pursuing theoretical physics specifically. In fairness there seems to be a lack of information for all physics but I feel like theory suffers the most. So I'm endeavouring to share a bit of what I've learned and experienced so far, mixed in with a lot of opinions, in the hope that I will help some people who are in positions I've been in!
